ONTARIO, San Bernardino County — October 28, 2026. Ontario residents planning to clear out closets, sell used household belongings or shop at neighborhood garage sales can mark Friday, November 6, through Sunday, November 8, 2026 on their calendars. The city has designated those three days as its next citywide yard-sale weekend.
No permit or city fee for the designated dates
Ontario’s yard-sale ordinance provides fixed dates for citywide sales and, according to the city, eliminates the need for a yard-sale permit or fee on those dates. The policy is designed to let households participate without individual applications, but the city’s rules on signs and merchandise still apply.
The city allows one sign, no larger than six square feet, on the seller’s own property. That is not permission to place multiple signs on street corners, utility poles or other property. Anyone planning special signs should check with the city before installing them.
What can residents sell?
The designated sale is for the seller’s personal property. Ontario says new merchandise and goods bought for resale are not permitted under the yard-sale rules. Residents should treat the weekend as an opportunity to sell their own used belongings, not to operate a temporary commercial retail business.
What if it rains?
If rainy conditions occur on Friday or Saturday of the first scheduled weekend, Ontario says an alternate sale may take place November 13–15. The second weekend is therefore conditional, not a separately guaranteed additional sale. Residents should consult the city for a final weather-related decision as the dates approach.
The municipal announcement does not specify uniform shopping hours or provide a directory of individual participating homes. Visitors should respect neighborhood parking rules and private property, and sellers should follow any applicable local restrictions beyond the brief city notice.
