ONTARIO, San Bernardino County — October 28, 2026. The City of Ontario is combining a costume parade, judging and trunk-or-treat into one Halloween celebration on Thursday, October 29. Activities will take place at Ontario City Hall and along Lemon Avenue next to Ontario Town Square, according to the city’s Recreation & Community Services Department.
October 29 event schedule
- 3:30 p.m. — Sensory-friendly check-in.
- 3:45 p.m. — Costume-contest participant check-in.
- 4 p.m. — Sensory parade.
- 4:30 p.m. — Contestant parade and judging.
- 5 p.m. — Trunk-or-treat and entertainment begin.
- 8 p.m. — Event concludes.
The separate sensory-parade slot is a useful planning detail for families who prefer an activity organized apart from the main parade. The city’s announcement does not explain specific sound, crowd or accessibility accommodations, so attendees with particular needs should ask the recreation department in advance.
Costume awards and family activities
The parade will recognize costumes in four categories: Creepiest, Most Unique, Best Look-a-Like, and Family/Group. Families can also expect decorated vehicles and canopies for trick-or-treating along the breezeway and Lemon Avenue, as well as a maze, puppet show, food vendors and live music by Xpired.
Costume-contest participants should note the 3:45 p.m. check-in rather than assuming they can arrive at the later 4:30 p.m. judging. Visitors primarily interested in collecting candy should look to the 5 p.m. trunk-or-treat start.
What visitors should confirm
The event’s public announcement does not specify street-closure boundaries, parking arrangements, food prices or registration requirements. Check the city’s special-events page before departing and allow extra time around downtown Ontario as families arrive for the evening activities.
