ONTARIO, San Bernardino County — October 28, 2026. Residents who need information from Ontario City Hall after regular office hours now have another option. The city announced on October 20 that its Ask Ontario digital assistant has added an AI-powered telephone service, available around the clock at (866) 393-6107.
How to reach the service
Ontario says callers can use the new voice assistant to look up municipal programs, navigate city services, submit requests and seek help reaching city staff. It is intended as a starting point for routine questions rather than a replacement for every city employee or department.
Residents who prefer typing can visit OntarioCA.gov and select the Ask Ontario chat icon in the lower-right corner. The city says the existing website chat supports more than 70 languages. Its announcement does not separately establish that the new telephone assistant supports all those languages, so callers should not assume identical language coverage.
Why the change matters
A resident trying to find the right city department, request municipal assistance or understand a city program may be doing so before work, late at night or over the weekend. Offering an automated entry point 24 hours a day may reduce the need to wait until the next business day simply to identify where to start.
Ontario developed the service with Citibot, a technology company serving local governments. The city describes it as using generative AI and machine learning to respond to questions and help people locate information. It did not announce that all departments now provide live staff assistance 24 hours a day.
What residents should verify
Automated responses can be incomplete or mistaken, particularly for fees, eligibility rules, deadlines and case-specific questions. Confirm important details with the responsible city department and use the official city website for current forms. The AI number is not described by the city as an emergency line; for immediate emergencies, call 911.
